March 9 meeting will address the issue of downloading and installing the manager of references, Zotero . For this I prepared a short video that explains this procedure, which will publish in coming days. Meanwhile, the purpose of this post is to make a short summary of this tool, which can be explored before we see it next Wednesday in the classroom.
Well, Zotero works as a complement for Firefox , same as free downloads directly from their Web site . Its major strength is that it can generate bibliographies in over one hundred different bibliographic styles, making it one of the most powerful tools in its class. Its main features are:
- gathers information from a wide variety of documents, in addition to the stores, labels and adjust.
- allows different documents relate to each other and organize both collections and sub-collections. Import
- bibliographic data directly from Web pages, library catalogs, scientific networks and online booksellers like Amazon .
- is capable of exporting these bibliographic data different formats such as RIS, Text and others, and bibliographies that generates individual and collective citation the most popular formats: APA, MLA , Chicago , etcetera.
- is translated into over 30 different languages, including English.
- is fully compatible with major word processors, both open source as owners : Microsoft Word, OpenOffice and LibreOffice .
