The world celebrates Earth Day
Today the world celebrates the Earth Day, a day which aims to become a forum for reflection on the planet and consequences of human activity on the environment. That often we miss and do not give importance to this day!
The commemoration began in 1970 in the United States, sponsored by Senator Gaylord Nelson to create an agency environment in that country. The event had its successes and since then, groups from around the world choose to spend at least one day a year to think about the problems on Earth.
This year, the date is more than ever an instance of reflection. A recent World Wildlife Fund revealed that the world consumes 30 percent more resources than the planet can produce.
Moreover, Intermón Oxfam warned that natural disasters related to climate directly affect every year to some 250 million people, but without adequate international management, these environmental changes will cause 375 million casualties in 2015.
